Bafana Bafana forward Bongokuhle Hlongwane came off the bench to inspire Minnesota United to a two-goal comeback after being involved in all three goals against Philadelphia Union in the US Open Cup.

The 22-year-old started on the bench and was introduced after 63 minutes for Sang-Bin Jung with the score at 0-0 at the time.

And it sparked the game to life as he found the net just five minutes later with a deft touch heading the ball at the near post to wild scenes at the Allianz Field.

And five minutes later he beat two defenders inside the area to lay the ball off for Joseph Rosales to net the second goal but the opposition side fought back with an incredible comeback netting two late goals to take the game to extra-time.

Hlongwane bagged his second after 103 minutes but again, Union equalised with the last kick at 120 minutes to force the cup game to penalty shoot-outs.

The home side, did however, hold their nerve to win 7-6 and advance to the next round of the domestic cup competition in the United States.
