Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos has placed a pressing demand on Percy Tau regarding his Al Ahly future.
Broos was explaining his decision to omit Tau from his Bafana Bafana squad that will face Mozambique and Angola in two international friendly matches.
The Bafana boss trimmed his preliminary squad from 30 to 23 ahead of the two matches set for next week.
TAU FITS INTO BROOS’ PLANS
Bafana play Mozambique at the Mbombela Stadium on Thursday, 17 November [20:30] before facing Angola three days later at the same venue on Sunday, 20 November.
“I think a player like Percy fits into every plan of every coach. What happened to Percy last year [was unfortunate]. He went from one injury to another,” Broos explained on SABC Sport.
“He didn’t play because of injuries against Ethiopia and France. He was injured, and now at the end of the season in June, he got injured again.
“I don’t think it’s a good plan to take Percy because he’s not 100%. Why call him?”
He further revealed that Tau was one of the country’s most important players, insisting that he needs more minutes.
“He has to be one of the most important players in our team. He’s not 100% now. He needs minutes,” Broos said.
AL AHLY DEMAND
“If he doesn’t succeed in getting his position in Al Ahly, he should get a team in January where he can play so we can have a 100% Percy Tau in March,” he said.
