Bafana Bafana XI v Namibia

Morena Ramoreboli has named his Bafana Bafana starting line-up for their Cosafa Cup opener against Namibia this evening.

The match is scheduled to kick off at 6 pm at the King Zwelithini Stadium in Durban.

With Helman Mkhalele unable to lead the team due to Cosafa’s minimum coaching badge requirements, the Jwaneng Galaxy coach was roped in to lead the squad and will be assisted by Raymond Mdaka.

Ramoreboli is no stranger to leading Bafana at the Cosafa Cup, and led Bafana to cup victory in 2021 when Mkhalele was absent due to Covid. After winning the league with Galaxy in Botswana, he will now be hoping for more success with the national side.

Ramoreboli had faced a slight dilemma in selecting his 23-man squad due to player unavailability, but despite those obstacles was able to pick a fairly decent selection, if somewhat unbalanced.

They will face a good test from Collin Benjamin’s relatively young Namibian squad which does include a few veterans such as  Denzil Haoseb and Ananias Gebhardt. While this is Ramoreboli’s second Cosafa tournament, it is Benjamin’s third. Namibia last won the tournament in 2015.

Here’s how they line up:

Bafana Bafana XI: Barr, Allan, Mohamme, Sikhakhane, Mogaila, Cele, Tlolane, Kobedi, Lakay, Kapinga, Letsoalo

Namibia XI: Maova, Gebhardt, Kambindu, Imbondi, Papama, Wendell, Petrus, Muzeu, Kamberipa, Fredericks, Ametenya
