South African attacking midfielder Ayanda Patosi is training with a DStv Premiership club, hoping to secure a contract before the January transfer window closes on Tuesday night.
He returned to South Africa after cutting ties with the Iranian club Foolad FC.
The club is said to have terminated the 30-year-old’s contract after he was heavily slammed for unprofessionalism.
Patosi had reportedly not joined the team on time when they returned from the mid-season break.
AYANDA PATOSI TRAINING WITH DSTV PREMIERSHIP CLUB
Now, FARPost has learnt that the attacking midfielder started training with Cape Town City in the past few days to make an impression.
Patosi had a spell with the Citizens before his move abroad. He played for them between 2017 and 2019 before he joined Esteghlal FC on loan.
He made over 40 appearances and scored over 11 goals for the Cape Town-based side.
Meanwhile, during his stint with Foolad, Patosi was deemed an important figure at the club.
In over 80 appearances that he amassed, he found the back of the net on 18 occasions and provided 10 assists.
CAPE TOWN CITY IN NEED OF BEEFING UP
Landing Patosi’s signature would significantly boost Eric Tinkler’s side, considering that he would be added to the squad on a free transfer.
City haven’t been consistent since this season began, and being in the bottom half isn’t typical of them.
As bad as the first round was to them, they still have a chance to bounce back and finish in a better position in the DStv Premiership table. Patosi could be of help in their offensive game.
CITY SIGNINGS SO FAR
Before the end of the previous year, the Cape side bolstered the squad with three new signings.
They snatched the striker Bertrand Mani and defender Lorenzo Gordinho both on free transfers.
They also broke the bank to sign the forward Juan Zapata on a reported record club transfer fee.
