Kaizer Chiefs head coach Arthur Zwane has identified two position they must beef up before the start of the 2022/23 DStv Premiership season.
Amakhosi have been one of the busiest clubs in the transfer window signing seven players after parting ways with 12 players as part of the rebuilding phase.
Despite seven new faces at Naturena, Zwane, the man at the helm of Amakhosi’s technical team, says they are not yet done in the market as they are looking for a striker and a left back to ensure that the squad is balanced in terms of depth. He, however, admits that getting their targets won’t be easy.
“It’s key for us to get a number nine, but unfortunately, it’s difficult to get one at the moment. The type of striker that we looking for and those that we identified are not on the market, their teams are not willing to sell. Those who are not on available like Musa [Kamara], its difficult to bring him over,” Zwane told the media.
“Left-back as well, that’s the position we need to beef up because we only have [Thabani] Dube. Should anything happen to Dube then we won’t have the balance at the back. On the right we have galore that side, we’ll keep looking until we find one and if we get one definitely we’ll bring him in.”
The 48-year-old further revealed his satisfaction with the new players they signed during the transfer window.
“We’re happy with all acquisitions. We had to identify players to beef up certain positions knowing very well that we have to release certain players that we thought maybe wouldn’t cope with the demands of the game and the way we want to play as a club because we playing with a lot of energy.”
“We had to make sure we bring in players who can take the team to another level in terms of performance and grinding results. So far, the boys have responded positively despite obstacles here and there. We’re coming right, taking one step at a time. We’re on the right track. We’ll see how things come up in the first game. I think the first game will set the tone,” he added.
The Soweto giants are running out of time to fill up the two positions as the league starts on August 5th. However, the transfer window closes on September 22nd.
