Arthur Zwane has revealed that this has been the worst season

Coach Arthur Zwane has revealed that this has been Kaizer Chiefs’ worst season since joining the club in terms of the challenges they had faced.  

Zwane reckons that his side struggled to gell well in the PSL this season because he has been “chopping and changing” players due to severe injury and other factors. 

And the DStv Premiership giants’ inconsistent performances at some point led to the ‘boo boys’ chanting “Zwane must go”. 

But Zwane remains committed to the re-building mission at the Soweto giants. The 49-year-old mentor believes that he shares the same vision with the rest of the technical team to guide Amakhosi back to the glory days.

WHY IT HAS BEEN CHIEFS’ WORST SEASON

“If you look where we come from at the beginning of the season, we have been chopping and changing,” Zwane told the media. 

“Remember, we started with Khama [Billiat] at some point as the top man before Christian [Saile] came on board. Caleb [Bimenyimana] also came in when we had already started the season. We were always looking for combinations 

“As I said, remember we are a work in progress as a team. We are getting closer.” 

Zwane continued: “We had a very difficult season. For me, I think this is the worst season ever since I have been here, even before as an assistant when I was still with the development. 

“I don’t think any other coach has been in this situation that we are in at the moment, myself and the rest of the technical team. 

“You know we had so many challenges. Having said that, I think I must still commend the players that came in, especially under pressure when those who were still trying to build the team injured,” he added. 

Currently, Chiefs are placed fourth on the log standings with 40 points after 24 outings.
