Argentina and Poland XIs Confirmed

Argentina and Poland face off in a do-or-die final Group C clash for a place in the 2022 FIFA World Cup at Stadium 974 – Ras Abu Aboud.

The South American champions started their campaign with a shock 2-1 defeat to Saudi Arabia but turned things around by beating Mexico to move into second behind Poland – who beat Herve Renard’s side and opened their campaign with draw to Mexico.

With all four teams still, mathematically capable of qualifying, it will go down to the absolute wire – as two of the best footballers in the history of the game, Lionel Messi and Robert Lewandowski are vying for a place in the last-16 for their respective nations.

A win for either side would see them advance as group winners, while a draw could be enough for both to advance, provided Mexico and the Saudi’s cancel each other out.

The two sides have met only three teams previously, with the European side running out winners twice in 1974 and 2011 while Argentina beat them in the 1978 World Cup.

Confirmed XIs:

Argentina: Martinez; Molina, Romero, Otamendi, Acuna; De Paul, Enzo Fernandez, MacAllister; Messi, Alvarez, Di Maria.

Poland: Szczesny, Bereszynski, Glik, Kiwior, Cash, Frankowski, Bielik, Krychowiak, Zielinski, Swiderski, Lewandowski.
