Following the sacking of head coach Kaitano Tembo after 23 years at SuperSport United, first as a player before moving into coaching, Andre Arendse will take over the club as the caretaker coach for the remainder of the current season.

On Tuesday, Matsatsantsa announced that they have reached a mutual agreement to part ways with Tembo following a string of poor results.

Arendse was in charge of the training today, Tembo never pitched.

“Kaitano is the epitome of the dedicated club man,” said the club CEO, Stan Matthews.

“Very few players transition into coaching at the same club where they played. We want to thank Kaitano for the many years that he served SuperSport United in various capacities. It is never easy parting ways but as a true servant, Kaitano has always placed the interests of the club above that of individuals.

“We are grateful for the role he has played at the club both as a player and coach.”
