Araujo signs new deal with Barcelona | Breaking News

Uruguayan defender Ronald Araujo has signed a new contract with Spanish giants Barcelona.

The new deal will see Araujo stay at the club until 2026 with a 1bn euro (£841m) buyout clause.

His previous contract with Barca was due to expire in 2023.

He joined Xavi’s side on a five-year contract from Boston River back in 2018.

The 23-year-old has played 26 league games this season, having found the back of the net on four occasions.

“He has proved himself to be the present and future for Barca, becoming an integral part of the Blaugrana defence,” the club said.

“His talents in defence and scoring goals mean he is a key player for years to come.”
