Appollis’s absence clarified as Bafana Bafana returns

Orlando Pirates and Bafana Bafana winger Oswin Appollis did not return with the team following their elimination from the World Cup.

Bafana arrived in the country on Thursday morning, and Appollis alongside Relebohile Mofokeng were not with the squad.

It had already been reported that Mofokeng would travel from the US to Belgium, where he is expected to finalize his signing with Royale Union Saint-Gilloise.

Appollis’s absence raised some speculation, but SoccerBeat has now revealed that the reason for his delayed return is that he decided to take a holiday there for a few days.

Bafana’s return comes after their campaign ended in the round of 32, where they were defeated by Canada.

Oswin Appollis was one of the standout players in these matches, putting in an excellent performance and attracting the attention of overseas clubs.

His stay in the US comes amid ongoing reports that European clubs want to sign him.

Reports have emerged stating that Portugal’s FC Porto has already shown strong interest in him and has already contacted Pirates regarding him.

Although he did not return with the team, there is no indication of any issue between him and Bafana Bafana or Orlando Pirates.

It is said he took this opportunity to rest after a long season and the World Cup campaign.

Fans will now wait to see when he will return to South Africa and where his future will lie before the start of the new season.
