Another Tau Deal Broke Down – Report

Percy Tau seemingly saw a second exit from Al Ahly break down in the recent transfer window.

The South African winger was close to a deadline day move to Ligue 2 side Le Havre but it fell through because both clubs couldn’t agree on a loan fee.

However, Al Ahly are seemingly looking for a way out for Tau, who has continuously struggled with injuries since joining the Cairo giants from Brighton & Hove Albion in August 2021.

It is now claimed that Tau was set for a move to Saudi Arabian side Al Taawoun, as part of a swap deal which would have seen former Zamalek winger Mostafa Fathi join Al Ahly.

However, pressure from his former club Zamalek to not join their bitter rivals has seen the deal collapse, claims former Al Ahly defender Omar Rabie Yassin.

“Al-Ahly had accepted the departure of Tau in order to include Mustafa Fathi in the new season, before the transfer market was closed in Saudi Arabia,” he said during a tv appearance, as per Ahlynews.com.

“The deal was not completed due to the pressures of Zamalek for Fathi’s return, and Tau was part of Al-Ahly’s deal with Saudi Arabian club for the services of the player Mustafa Fathi this summer.”

Meanwhile, Al Ahly have announced the signing of another winger in Shady Hussein, who joined the club from Ceramica Cleopatra.

Over the weekend, Bolivian club Bolivar conformed that Brazilian winger, Bruno Savio will join the club this window.

With the Egyptian giants stocking up on new wingers, Tau could potentially still leave this window, however, with options short he may also stay put until the next window in January, as reported in this week’s iDiski Times newspaper.
