Another South American Forward Set For PSL Switch

Cape Town City have agreed to sign forward Juan Camilo Zapata from Venezuelan Primera Division outfit CD Hermanos Colmenarez, iDiski Times can confirm.

City have notably been in the market for a new striker over the last few months and their sub-par 2022/23 season so far has made it evident there’s a need for attacking reinforcements.

The Colombian hitman, 28, came onto their radar after scoring 19 goals in 35 games across all competitions last season – finishing second in the Golden Boot race in the top flight.

iDiski Times understands he put pen to paper on a three-year deal on Thursday ahead of his move to the DStv Premiership outfit in the January transfer window.

Zapata is a more diminutive figure that features in a false nine role or in wide areas and would add another dimension to the Citizens attack that features Wayde Lekay, Khanyisa Mayo, Luke Daniels, and Venezuelan Darwin Gonzales.

Gonzalez arrived from Deportivo La Guaira in January and has been an ever-present figure in Eric Tinkler’s starting eleven, which has convinced the club’s management to go back to the South American nation to bolster their squad for the second half of the season.
