Angry Zwane – We Let Ourselves Down

Kaizer Chiefs coach Arthur Zwane was upset with his side after they lost 2-1 to Chippa United on Saturday.

The Amakhosi went ahead before half-time through a goal by Siyabonga Ngezana but goals by Siphelele Luthuli and an Edmilson Dove own-goal turned the game on it’s head in the second stanza.

Zwane was not impressed with the attitude of his side and expressed his displeasure after the final whistle.

“We won the game before it started,” he told SuperSport TV.

“We could see the way we started, we were a bit sluggish. We thought it was going to be an easy game.

“I had to check them up at half-time to make them aware, because let alone that we scored the goal but to think first half we failed to dictate terms.

“We gave them too much space on the ball, we allowed them to do whatever they wanted to do. We didn’t show the character and should’ve done better.

“Had we applied ourselves correctly, put them under pressure, force them to make mistakes, like in the dying minutes, look how many chances we created second half that I believe had we taken two of them we win the game.

“Once you don’t take you’re chances, they’re scoring but we have ourselves to blame. It’s one game that could’ve helped us to keep our confidence but we let ourselves down, big time.”

Chiefs missed an opportunity to climb to the top of the log, while Chippa climbed into seventh place after securing three successive wins under Morgan Mammila.
