Andile Jali, a player for Mamelodi Sundowns, is expected to become a free agent after reports suggest that he will be released from the team at the end of his contract. This comes after Jali was exiled from the Sundowns squad earlier this year, and it now seems unlikely that he will play for them again.
His exile is reportedly due to him attending training while still under alcohol. Before this incident, there were rumours that his former team, Orlando Pirates, were interested in acquiring him. Even their rivals, Kaizer Chiefs, were rumoured to be preparing an offer for him in January.
Kaizer Chiefs reportedly stopped their pursuit of Andile Jali after the drinking incident. The club’s sporting director, Kaizer Motaung Jr, publicly said they were never interested in the player. On the other hand, Orlando Pirates’ interest in Jali came before they signed another veteran midfielder, Makhehlene Makhaula. Since then, there have been very few links between Jali and the Pirates.
Other teams, such as SuperSport United, Stellenbosch FC, Cape Town City FC and AmaZulu, have shown interest in acquiring Jali’s services. However, it seems that Jali has already found a new club. His former University of Pretoria teammate, Manti Mekoa, invited him to play for their amateur side Rossoneri in Discovery Park.
Jali joins Rossoneri
“This is just a social league where we keep ourselves fit and busy after hours. We invited AJ (Jali) to come keep fit with us, we have been good friends since our days at Tuks. We have had other former PSL players here before, like Bibo and Mpho Makola before he went to Polokwane City. It is a very competitive league and there is a lot of talent here” Mekoa told KickOff.com
