The conferences for both Johannesburg and Ekurhuleni which were set to take place this coming weekend 14-15 May for the election of new leadership has been postponed.
The City of Ekurhuleni and City of Joburg will now hold their elective conference between the 20th of May or the 27th of May 2022
According to a report by https://www.iol.co.za/ Jongizizwe Dlabathi, Chief Whip of ANC Ekurhuleni caucus said that they had to postpone and deal with the disputes that needs to be resolved.
“I can confirm that conference has been postponed subject to fixing some processes related to BBGM issues including verification and audit to finalize disputes. We don’t want to go to conference without resolving the disputes,” Dlabathi said.
Johannesburg region Secretary Dada Morero said that Johannesburg had a total of 44 disputes and amongst those they included violation of guidelines, administration of delegates and some people found to be not in good standing and the quorum not met.
In December 2022, The ANC will hold its 55th National Conference.
