ANC Bojanala Region Defends Governance Record at Madibeng Municipality Amid Instability Allegations
The African National Congress (ANC) in the Bojanala Region in the North West has formally distanced itself from the ongoing governance instability and disruptions at the Madibeng Local Municipality, reaffirming its commitment to the rule of law and clean governance.
Responding to inquiries from MDNTV, the regional leadership stated that the party is entirely unaware of any involvement by its members, councillors, or office-bearers in contributing to the municipality’s current friction.
The statement follows a tense confrontation and gathering at the municipal premises on 17 September 2026.
The ANC maintained it possesses no information linking its leadership or deployees to the mobilization, financing, or organization of the disruption.
“The ANC’s primary focus is ensuring stable governance and uninterrupted service delivery for the people of Madibeng,” the regional body asserted, emphasizing that organisational processes must never supersede constitutional and legislative frameworks.
Addressing allegations regarding a police investigation involving a party member, the ANC stated it has no record or knowledge of any representations made to the South African Police Service (SAPS).
The organization strongly rejected claims that party figures have attempted to communicate with law enforcement or municipal officials to influence the case.
The regional leadership reiterated its strict policy of non-interference in administrative and legal processes, expressing full trust in independent state institutions to verify the facts.
However, the ANC issued a stern warning regarding internal accountability.
The region clarified that its position on lawlessness is unequivocal, promising that if credible evidence emerges implicating any member or public representative in unlawfully disrupting the municipality or pressuring officials, strict internal disciplinary processes will apply “without fear or favour.”
