“An Idiot And A Xenophobe”
Aaron Motsoaledi is widely regarded as a divisive figure in South African politics. The Minister of Home Affairs is leading a tough crackdown on illegal immigrants, and his stance appears to have hardened in recent weeks.
Motsoaledi recently rejected calls for his resignation, claiming that he would only step down once ‘every foreign rascal has been jailed.’ The emotional language has sparked outrage across the country.
Of course, the minister is not without supporters. ActionSA and Operation Dudula are staunch supporters of Motsoaledi’s unwavering stance. But the ANC representative has also accomplished something very rare on these shores: he has now gotten the DA and the EFF to agree on something.
Sadly for Aaron Motsoaledi, the parties did not agree to include him on their Christmas card list this year. Two senior figures from each opposition party have slammed the Cabinet member for exhibiting ‘xenophobic traits.’ The DA’s shadow minister for home affairs, Leon Schreiber, has slammed those who ‘fawn over’ the Home Affairs boss:
“Aaron Motsoaledi is Herman Mashaba’s xenophobic hero. Why does [the ActionSA leader] worship the very ANC politician who destroyed Home Affairs? The answer is that this is not about immigration – it is about Mashaba harnessing Motsoaledi’s rabid xenophobia for cheap politics,” he said.

Mbuyiseni Ndlozi of the EFF went so far as to call Motsoaledi “an idiot on a crusade,” and chastised him for focusing on “vulnerable and poor groups” rather than the alleged corruption in his own department.
“That idiot Motsoaledi is on a crusade dealing with ‘illegal’ immigrants, all of whom are black, and he seeks to give credence to the tide of Afrophobia! This is another Diversion! These crusades should be at Home Affairs, we need public arrests and shaming of corrupt politicians and bureaucrats that collapsed the system.
“We are being coerced to focus all our energies on ‘foreigners’ – all of whom are black, vulnerable and poor. This is to silence and divert the focus from the ruling establishment. Aaron Motsoaledi is a political degenerate!
“The name Motsoaledi once associated with “Workers of the World Unite”. Unapologetic opposition to all efforts to disintegrate the working class & poor I’m talking about Isitwalandwe Elias Motsoaledi not Idiot Motsoaledi- Aron the Pravin Kisser. Aron the Afrophobia Crusader.”
We are being mobilised/coerced to focus all our energies on “foreigners”, all of whom are black, vulnerable & poor. This is so as to silence & divert the focus from the ruling establishment.

We must fight crime. But let’s not mislead each other- A crusade on poor foreign nationals under the guise of fighting crime is WRONG
More radically, we must fight the conditions that make crime the only way of surviving for poor blacks:
