AmaZulu’s CAF Champions League opponents have sacked their coach Nabil Kouki following their 1-0 defeat to the DStv Premiership side.
Usuthu beat the Algerian side 1-0 thanks to a goal by Luvoyo Memela at the Moses Mabhida Stadium on Friday but the result could’ve been a lot more comfortable had AmaZulu used their chances.
Benni McCarthy’s side moved to six points in their CAF Champions League group, while Setif remained on three.
They also only sit in eighth place in the Algerian Ligue 1 and opted to end the reign of Kouki, who had been in charge since October 2019.
The Tunisian manager twice finished as runners-up in the domestic league, but Setif will now look to appoint another coach following three defeats in their last four games.
Setif now return to local action, facing Kabylie on Wednesday and Chlef on Sunday before their second clash with AmaZulu in Algeria on 11 March.
Setif are already the second team from AmaZulu’s CAFCL group to have sacked their coach after Raja Casablanca, who started with three wins out of their first three games, also parted way with Marc Wilmots.
