AmaZulu interim coach Ayanda Dlamini says former club’s communications manager Phumlani Dube is bitter in his allegations, saying if he saw issues within the club why didn’t raise it when he was at the club.
Dube stunned the media this week in Durban, saying alcohol was prevalent at the club, with one video seen by iDiski Times the Usuthu employee was heavily drunk.
However, according to iDiski Times, the employee in question, this happened after they went out after the game.
Dube, who mentioned a raft of accusations such as his relationship turning sour once Usuthu appointed Snenjabulo Zungu as the CEO in 2021, left Usuthu in November last year.
This came after he was alleged to have beaten an employee within the club during the Carling Black Label Cup in Johannesburg last year.
Dube said the employee in question swore at him badly and then charged at him in front of the police who were women.
According to Dube, when was trying to bring the person to order, that person fell on the floor to sustain bruises to be used in the case to get rid of him, which eventually happened. But it was proven by the club’s DC that Dube did not beat the employee, according to him.
Dlamini was asked this question after Usuthu beat Sekhukhune United 2-0 at the Moses Mabhida Stadium on Saturday night.
“What has been said is a huge issue. But my question is, this was said by someone who was here and when he is gone, he talks bad about AmaZulu,” said Dlamini.
“When he was here, he didn’t say ‘I’m leaving because of this and I’m not part of that’. But they are saying this when they are not here.
“I can tell you now, they are saying that because they are bitter. These people who are saying these things are very, very bitter. If you watch the game today (Saturday), did you see players who are used to drinking?”, with Dlamini leaving the media laughing in the background at the press conference.
“They are not kids, they have their lives, and they are responsible. If someone was drunk on Friday, wouldn’t they have played like this?

“I can tell you, they will never perform like that if they were drunk on Friday or this week, they are responsible.
“So whoever is saying that, is saying it in their personal capacity. But I think it is very disrespectful to the team. It is disappointing if you look at people who are saying that.
“But guys, in life if you win, you dance and celebrate and do everything. If you lose, accept the loss, go back and work and try to improve, don’t point fingers.”
Goals by Ethan Brooks and Ramahlwe Mphahlele were enough to see Usuthu beat Sekhukhune and move to 10th spot in the table with 32 points after 27 matches.
