Motsepe Foundation Championship early pacesetters AmaTuks have beefed up their attack with the signing of former Baroka striker Tristan Nikitaridis.
Nikitaridis spent the 2022/23 season in the DStv Premiership with Baroka but failed to establish himself as a regular starter.
The 23-year-old forward broke into the scene through the Varsity Cup when he made a name for himself in the University of Johannesburg colours.
HIGHLY RATED
The highly-rated attacker joined the Ga-Mphahlele-based side at the beginning of last season but failed to make a real impression as the team got relegated to the Motsepe Foundation Championship.
“Tristan Nikitaridis spent the last season with Baroka but was released after the team got relegated,” a source close to the player told FARPost.
“So the boy has now joined University of Pretoria on a one-year deal plus an option to the extent for another year.”
Tuks lost most of their key players to Premiership sides, and they are building a new team to compete for automatic promotion to the PSL.
Among some players who have left Tuks is Keegan Allan, Wonderboy Makhubu, Thabang Sibanyoni, Siyanda Msani, Mahlatse Makudubela, Etiosa Ighodaro, Thakasani Mbanjwa, Sanele Barns, Harold Majadibodu and Luvuyo Phewa.
Furthermore, Motaung and his technical team are assessing Thokozani Sekotlong and two other players from the Varsity team as they look to reinforce the squad.
The Tshwane-based side have had a good start to the new campaign and remains one of the few teams yet to lose a match.
They won four games while drawing three and are top of the league table.
AmaTuks maintained their unbeaten run after playing to a 1-1 draw against Magesi at Peter Mokaba Stadium on Wednesday.
