Jazzworx and G.L. Ceejay survive kidnapping after targeted studio heist

Popular Amapiano stars Jazzworx, real name Kamohelo Monese, and his musical partner Gobokweone Lekganyane, known as G.L. Ceejay, are recovering after a traumatic kidnapping ordeal that has sent shockwaves through the local music industry.

The Uzizwa Kanjani hitmakers were abducted on Sunday during a violent home invasion at their residence in Klippoortjie, Germiston.

Their manager, Sandile Moloane, confirmed the chilling incident, stating, “They were kidnapped, and the people who kidnapped them took them and our studio equipment. They intentionally made it clear that they want the studio and what is in the computer.”

According to Gauteng police spokesperson Lieutenant-Colonel Mavela Masondo, a case of house robbery has been opened and investigations are underway.

“No arrests have been made yet; police are still searching for the suspects,” he said.

The duo was discovered early Monday morning in an abandoned house in Katlehong, east of Johannesburg.

They had sustained minor head injuries but were grateful to have survived the terrifying experience.

In a heartfelt public statement released shortly after their rescue, the musicians thanked fans and supporters for their love and prayers.

“We are currently receiving medical attention and support as we begin the process of healing physically, emotionally, and psychologically. We ask for privacy and understanding as we focus on recovery and rebuilding our strength.”

They also praised the swift response from law enforcement and confirmed that an image of one of the suspects would be shared as the investigation progresses.

Despite the trauma, Jazzworx and G.L. Ceejay remain committed to their music.

Their highly anticipated album The Most Wanted is still set to drop in September.
