AMA QAMATA’S EXPERIENCE FILIMING IN CONGO

According to Sunday World, Ama Qamata also opened up about her experience working on the film during the premiere.

“Filming Fight Like a Girl in Congo was one of the most powerful experiences of my career,” she said. “This story is about resilience, courage, and the strength of women who refuse to be defined by their circumstances. I hope audiences see the beauty, strength, and spirit of the Congolese people through this film.”

AMA QAMATA AS A PRODUCER

Ama Qamata was also a producer on the film, marking an important step in her career. Speaking to Wanted Magazine, she shared more about the journey behind the project.

“I produced my first film Fight Like a Girl two years ago. We shot that in Goma [Democratic Republic of the Congo], which is quite an experience, because it was based on a true story. It’s about these girls in Goma who faced horrific challenges in their life, and they’re quite young. They use boxing as a method to take out that frustration and find strength.”

“The director wanted to shoot the movie as real as possible, so we went to the locations where a lot of the stuff took place. We got chased by rebels one night because a lot of our crew were Rwandese. That was very dangerous. But in hindsight it was a great experience. It definitely changed me.”
