Mamelodi Sundowns’ new signing Marcelo Allende spoke for the first time in the Masandawana colours, reacting to his goal on debut and making a promise to the club’s fans.
The Chilean international was officially announced as latest signing by the Brazilians on Wednesday afternoon and made his debut later when they faced Stellenbosch FC at Loftus Versfeld Stadium.
It didn’t take long for the 23-year-old to show what is he capable of as he scored on his debut, netting his side’s third goal in the 3-0 win over Stellenbosch.
Allende, who is understood to be the most expensive player in PSL history, has praised the atmosphere inside the stadium and promised he’ll also try to join on the team’s motivational songs.
“I am very happy with this atmosphere. I’m grateful for the welcome by these great people. Their love gives us energy. It’s a big club,” he told the club’s media team.
“I am very happy. It is the culture. I also have to adapt. I actually like it. This gives us good energy before we enter the field. I will learn the songs so that I can sing with them.”

He also stated that he was happy with his debut, admitting finding the back of the next in his first appearance was a welcome bonus.
“As I said I am happy,” he added.
“The first thing I wanted was to play with the team. The scoring was a plus. I am very very happy with the goal. I am grateful for my teammates and everyone around me.”
Allende joined the club from Montevideo City Torque, becoming Sundowns’ fourth signing this window following Sipho Mbule, Ronwen Williams and Bongani Zungu, while Abubeker Nassir, whose deal was already completed in January, was also unveiled after being initially loaded back to Ethiopian Coffee.
