Marumo Gallants and Royal AM both advanced to the play-off round of the CAF Confederation Cup where they will join Cape Town City for a place in the group stages.

Gallants eased to a 1-0 win at the Peter Mokaba Stadium with captain Lehlohonolo Nonyane’s first-half strike securing a 4-1 aggregate win over Elgeco FC from Madagascar.

Meanwhile, Royal AM shocked Zambian Super League giants ZESCO United with a Ruzaigh Gamildien free-kick in the second half cancelling out Collins Sikombe’s opening strike.

Thwili Thwala advanced on the away goals rule where they will now be among eight teams who advance to the final play-off, where they will meet the eight sides who dropped down from the CAF Champions League after losing their respective playoff ties in Africa’s elite club competition.

There could be an opportunity for all four DStv Premiership clubs to now compete at the group stages in CAF competitions with Mamelodi Sundowns having secured a place in the Champions League after the resounding 15-1 aggregate scoeline over Syechlles champions La Passe.
