Al Ahly have confirmed that Bafana Bafana winger Percy Tau has suffered a new hamstring injury and will be sidelined for one month.
Tau suffered his latest injury in the latter stages of his side’s 3-0 win over Al-Ittihad, pulling up when trying to round the keeper.
It was Tau’s second successive start, his first tow under new coach Marcel Koller, and he netted in both games before picking up another injury.
Al Ahly’s head of medical Ahmed Abou-Abla now confirmed that Tau pulled his hamstring and has started his rehabilitation program, as per Kingfut.
Due to Al Ahly’s heavy fixture schedule in the coming weeks, Tau will likely miss eight games, with the Egyptian giants facing Future on Friday, Pharco on Monday, Smouha on 25 December, Ceramica Cleopatra on 28 December and Fagrie Lakay’s Pyramids on 2 January.
ENPPI on 5 January, Al Masry on 12 January and Smouha in the Cup on 16 January follow before the 28-year-old is expected to return.
He should be fully fit again by the time Al Ahly will face Mamelodi Sundowns on 24 February and 7 March in the CAF Champions League.
Al Ahly currently sit at the top of the Egyptian Premier League with 18 points from six games.
