Al Ahly President Sends Message To Motsepe

Al Ahly president Mahmoud El-Khatib has thanked Confederation of African Football president Patrice Motsepe for listening to the club’s requests.

‘Captain Bibo’ has always maintained that he has a good relationship with Motsepe, even when former coach Pitso Mosimane was expressing his frustrations with his former Sundowns president around the CAF Champions League final.

Mosimane had claimed their was an agenda from CAF against him, hence this year’s CAF Champions League final was hosted in Morocco, at the home ground of winners Wydad Athletic Club.

El-Khatib himself had held a press conference after the final, during which he made six demands to CAF over the Champions League final, but he reiterated several times that the club’s criticism is not a directed at Motsepe himself, but rather questioning CAF’s decision-making overall.

CAF have since announced that the Champions League will now again be hosted over two legs, in order to prevent the controversy that happened around this year’s final.

During a recent press conference, El-Khatib, once again spoke positive about Motsepe and thanked him for changing the hosting rights of the finals, but he maintained his critic of the Egyptian Football Association.

“I’d like to thank CAF President, Patrice Motsepe, who appreciated our stance on the CAF Champions League final, and decided to revert back to the old system,“ he said, as per Kingfut.

“However, how did our EFA react towards our requests?”
