Al Ahly Legend Tau & Dieng Should Be Sold

Al Ahly legend Taha Ismail has somewhat controversially claimed that the Egyptian giants should sell Percy Tau because he “lacks quality”.

The 83-year-old was speaking after Monday’s CAF Champions League final defeat to Wydad Athletic Club and listed Tau among three current stars who should leave.

In addition to Tau, Taha also named defensive midfielder Aliou Dieng and left-back Ali Maaloul as players the Egyptian giants should get rid of.

“Al Ahly should sell Ali Maaloul, he’s a big name and the club can financially benefit from him,” Taha said, as per Kingfut. “Dieng should also be sold, and after that, they should buy other high-quality players.

“Percy Tau is not a high-quality player as well, he should be replaced. We need to bring better players to Al Ahly.”

The Bafana Bafana star didn’t have the easiest of games, being played as false 9 by Pitso Mosimane and receiving very little support from his teammates for large parts of the match.

However, he did have a chance to get his side back into the game when appearing one-on-one with the Wydad keeper in the 80th minute but wasn’t able to convert his chance.

Overall, Tau had only 25 touches and couldn’t repeat his superb performances from the 6-2 aggregate win over ES Setif.
