Al Ahly’s Executive Director Said Shalaby has come out and insisted there is “no dispute” between the club and Pitso Mosimane and that the South African coach “will stay”.
There had been question marks over Mosimane’s future after made two public statements about meetings between Mosimane the club’s board, which even alerted Mosimane’s wife and agent Moira Thlagale to travel to Egypt to cover all eventualities.
On Saturday, president Mahmoud El-Khatib was holding a lengthy press conference where the coaches name was not mentioned, but ‘Captain Bibo’ asked the fans to support the club’s technical team team and players for the great work they’ve done and after the criticism following the lost CAF Champions League final.
A day later, Shablaby came out and also supported Mosimane, saying: “There is always coordination with the club’s board and the planning committee. Mosimane had requested a vacation because we worked for long periods without rest, so his vacation was after coordination with the club,” he stated, as per Kingfut.
When asked if that means the coach will continue with Al Ahly, Shalaby replied: “There is no decision that came out regarding this, which means that Mosimane will stay.
The club representative also dismissed rumours of a rift between the coach and the board.
“If there were, we would have said,” he added.
“But we are used in general that our problems is resolved inside the closed rooms and not in public, but there are no disputes. The Board of Directors does not see any problem with the team’s performance under Pitso Mosimane.”
Al Ahly are back in action on Sunday evening when they will face Masry Salloum in the round of 32 of the Egyptian Cup.
