Al Ahly Announce New Coach

Al Ahly have announced their new coach with Swiss manager Marcel Koller replacing Ricardo Soares.

Koller, a former Swiss international and Grasshoppers star, last worked at Basel in his home country. But he has extensive experience, having worked for a number of years in the Bundesliga, and the former Köln and Bochum coach, was also in charge of the Austrian national team for six years between 2011 and 2017.

The Portuguese Soares last just two months at the Egyptian giants after succeeding Pitso Mosimane, but after only leading Ahly to third, and losing in the Egyptian Cup final, he was dismissed. 

“We are delighted to announce that Marcel Koller will be our new manager for the next two years,” the club said on their official website

“The coach will arrive in Cairo on Thursday with three assistants to start his mission with The Red Eagles.  Marcel Koller, Welcome to Al Ahly.”
