Ahly Demand Replay Of League Game

Al Ahly SC have sent an official request to the Egyptian Football Association (EFA) and the league committee to request a rematch of their Egyptian Premier League game against the National Bank of Ahly.

Pitso Mosimane’s side dropped points for a fourth consecutive game in the domestic league this week with the 0-0 draw but there was controversy surrounding once of the decisions around a free-kick which the Red Devils management believes was a wrongfully disallowed goal upon review.

“Al Ahly SC sent an official letter to the Egyptian Football Association and EPL Committee requesting a rematch for our previous league game against National Bank of Egypt SC due to the mistake of the match referee and the VAR which disallowed a rightful goal causing the team to lose two important points in their title race,” the club statement read.

“The club made sure to point out in the letter that the mistake that both the match referee and VAR committed contradicts the rules which were sent by the International Football Association Board (IFAB) to all the football associations around the world.”

The Club of the Century are currently third in the league, trailing league leaders Zamalek by four points albeit with three games in hand over the reigning champions, after their dramatic 2-1 win over ENPPI on Saturday evening
