Ahly Bounce Back With Big Win

Al Ahly and Pitso Mosimane bounced back from their CAF Champions League defeat to Mamelodi Sundowns with a 4-1 win over Pharco FC in the Egyptian Premier League on Tuesday evening.

The wounded Ahly were straight out of the blocks clearly looking to make a statement with Mohamed Sherif and a brace from Magdy Afsha making it 3-0 after just 13 minutes in the game in Alexandria.

Dominating in possession with Mosimane opting to freshen up his midfield with Afsha and Luis Miquissone recalled to the starting eleven – they looked ruthless from the first minute.

But an uncharacteristic goalkeeping error from captain Mohamed El-Shenawy brought the home side back into the game in the 17th minute as he parried a long-range effort into the path of Ahmed Abdel Aziz Ibrahim who prodded the ball home.

At the break, Bafana Bafana star Percy Tau was introduced for Miquissone as he continued his return to full fitness following his return to injury.

However, fellow substitute Hussein El Shahat was the one who bagged the fourth as the Red Devils moved back to the summit of the Egyptian top-flight ahead of Pyramids by two points after nine games.
