An agent for former Orlando Pirates striker Justin Shonga has said she is not aware that his client has signed for Moroccan top-flight league side Maghreb Association Sportive de Fès.
Several websites in Zambia such as Zambianfootball.co.zm have published breaking new reports that Fes have signed the 25-year-old on a free transfer.
However, Fifa and Safa licenced agent Karabo Mathang-Tshabuse told FARPost that neither she nor Shonga is aware of such a move.
“I am not aware of this. The player is also not aware of this,” Karabo tells FARPost.
The forward also reserved his comment when FARPost asked him about the reports linking him with the move to the Botola Professional League side.
The Zambian international spent some months at Ismaily in Egypt in 2021 but left the club barely after three months following a mutual termination of his contract.
The forward returned to South Africa last season to sign for Sekhukhune United and scored a potential goal of the season contender.
However, he parted ways with Sekhukhune again by mutual consent after having scored two goals and provided an assist in 14 games across all competitions.
The former Chipolopolo star clinched a big career move when he signed for Pirates from Nkwazi United in 2017.
However, after a promising start to his career with the Buccaneers, things did not work out for Shonga, who moved to AmaZulu then Cape Town City in 2021.
The forward’s stay with the Citizens proved to be very brief, and he was soon on the flight to Egypt.
Shonga is capped 33 times and has an impressive tally of 16 goals.
The unconfirmed reports purporting that Shonga has signed for Fes seems to have excited some Zambia media circles considering that Fes are a strong side.
Fes gave a good account of themselves last season in the Botola league, finishing in fourth place, 18 points behind the eventual champions Wydad Casablanca.
The Fez-based club was founded in 1946 and has been playing its home matches at the 45,000-seater Fez Stadium since 2007.
The club has won four Botola titles, four Moroccan cups, CAF Confederation Cup and CAF Super Cup.
