Agent On Davids’ Move To Join Pitso’s Technical Team

The agent of Maahier Davids has opened up on his client’s move to join Pitso Mosimane as assistant coach at at Saudi First Division side Al Ahli Sports Club.

The younger brother of Fadlu Davids holds extensive experience in coaching after stints with Santons, Ajax Cape Town, Free State Stars, Maritzburg United, Orlando Pirates and Ethiopian giants Saint George in various roles.

 

On Monday, MT Sports confirmed that Davids has joined three-time CAF Champions League winner Mosimane in Jeddah to become his new assistant coach and become the ‘final member of the Dream Team’ as he joins analysts Musi Matlaba, Kyle Solomons as well as strength and conditioning coach Kabelo Rangoaga.

The 36-year-old will be Mosimane’s second assistant with his first assistant native to Saudi Arabia, as was the case in Egypt with Al Ahly when he roped in Cavin Johnson for one season.

Davids’ agent, Rasthoem Simons shed some light on the deal and praised Mosimane’s agent and wife, Moira Thlagale for her role in the deal.

“The deal was a long time coming. Coach Pitso has been interested to have Coach Maahier as part of his technical team for a long time and the timing is finally right.

“Moira of MT Sports was instrumental in putting it together and shows that as South Africans we can work together to provide opportunities for more coaches to ply their trade abroad.

Mosimane started his reign in Saudi Arabia with a draw and two wins, which has seen his side climb into fifth place on the log with two games in hand.

Al Ahli will only return to action after the upcoming 2022 FIFA World Cup break, giving Mosimane, Davids and the rest of the technical team more time to prepare their new side.
