After Benni McCarthy recently confirmed that he is not allowed to field Siyethemba Sithebe, the player’s agent has now given an update on the Kaizer Chiefs target.
Sithebe has reportedly a pre-contract agreement with Kaizer Chiefs in place, with Amakhosi also trying to sign him in January already.
However, talks between both clubs broke down and AmaZulu president Sandile Zungu insisted the attacking midfielder will not play for the club again.
Usuthu coach Benni McCarthy, though, tried to argue that the player should be allowed to play as long as he is contracted to the club but recently revealed the club’s bosses are not allowing him to include Sithebe in his squad.
His agent and uncle, Musi Sithebe has now confirmed that the player is at least still allowed to take part in team training.
“Yes, that’s correct, Siyethemba has confirmed he is still training with the team. At some stage the coach wanted to include him in the [playing] squad but because of the issues he could not,” he told Sowetan LIVE.
Musa Sithebe says that the situation has been working on him but re-emphasised that the player did nothing wrong.
“At some stage I really didn’t want to talk about the AmaZulu and Siyethemba issue in the media again, but it’s just that it’s a sad situation,”
“Because players are allowed to negotiate on fair grounds in respect of their new contracts, as he negotiated with Chiefs he also opened negotiations with AmaZulu. It was all open.
“So I’m disappointed with the situation and the manner it in which it culminated.”
