Zambia and Brighton & Hove Albion midfielder Enock Mwepu has been forced to retire from football, his club confirmed.
At only 24 years of age, Mwepu had the prime of his career still ahead of him but a hereditary heart condition has now ended it prematurely, his club confirmed on Monday.
“Enock Mwepu has been forced to end his playing career following the diagnosis of a hereditary heart condition,” his club stated.
Mwepu also confirmed the sad new via his own social media channels, but instead he will still stay involved with the beautiful game in some capacity.
Mwepu only joined Brighton in 2021 and made 24 appearances for the Premier League side since.
He represented his country at U17 and U20 level before making 24 appearances for Zambia.
