Actress Thuso Mbedu’s age revealed, leaves Mzansi puzzled

Thuso, Mbedu‘s actual age has surprised many as they thought she was young due to her fresh-faced looks. She is the epitome of dynamite that comes in small packages, she looks young and dynamic, yet she is older. The actress is a mother of one to make it sassier.

She is a treasure in the South African entertainment industry as she has represented the country internationally. Thuso Mbedu has appeared in several international films and has won a cabinet of awards locally and globally as a testament to her skills. Her youthful looks had always deceived many into thinking she was in her late twenties. This has served her well, allowing her to portray the character of a gorgeous Agojie warrior on Woman King.

Thuso Nokwanda Mbedu was born on 8 July1991 in Pietermaritzburg Kwa-Zulu Natal. As of 2022, she is 31; one can never guess she is that old as she has a baby face. She looks younger than her actual age.

Her parents passed away while she was still an infant. After the death of her parents, her grandmother becomes her legal guardian. Her grandmother raised her with so much love without making her regret her parent’s absence.

A sneak peek at Thuso Mbedu’s acting career

Thuso Mbedu started her career in 2014 when she scored an acting gig in the second season of Isibaya. After killing her role on Isibaya to excellency, she bagged another acting gig on Scandal! as a journalism student and wild daughter of Kitso in 2015. That same year, Thuso had a recurring role as Khetin on the SABC 2 teen drama series Snake Park. She, however, struggled to score another acting role for a year after her appearance in Snake Park.

Fortune favours the bold; Thuso won her first starring role in television in the Mzansi Magic teen drama series Is’thunzi premiered in October 2016. In the series, she portrayed Winnie as a sassy go-getter who dreams of marrying a rich rugby player, only to have her dreams shattered when she is exiled to stay with her cruel aunt.

She nailed her role as Winnie so well; since then, she has been winning big in her acting career. Mbedu made her international debut in the 2021 Amazon Video historical series The Underground Railroad. She won a Hollywood Critics Association Award, an Independent Spirit Award and a Gotham Award for the series. As of late, she scored an acting gig in The Woman King; she will be in the lead cast, starring alongside Oscar Award winner Viola Davis.
