Actress Dineo Langa kisses goodbye to The Estate

Mzansi star, Dineo Langa has left The Estate and her character is about to be off our small screens. The actress has shared a few words bidding farewell to her character Mmakoena Molefe saying she will be missing her.

Dineo has played the character Mmakoena for the past two seasons of the S3 drama series since joining in 2021.

The news was first broken by Phil Mphela who did not reveal the real reasons for Dineo’s departure.

Taking to Instagram Dineo penned an appreciation message to the people involved with The Estate. She said she will be missing her character the most.

“Sooo… in about a week or so, the character of Mmakoena will be off your screens. It’s been a whirlwind of a character to play and I look back on the journey I had with her with pride. She challenged me for the better and grew me as an artist. To say I won’t miss her would be a lie, ” she started off.

She showed love to the crew members and hoped to work with them in future.

“There are so many moments and memories that I’ll forever cherish. I chose to put up this post to thank all who contributed to her coming alive. The most appreciated being THE INCREDIBLE CREW I got to work with. They meant everything to me as an actor because they would be my ally in every single thing!!! I’m eternally grateful to you all and I’m hoping to find many of you in future projects. I love you so so much,” said the actress.

She then named all the characters who have played a role in making her stay memorable. From Lorcia Cooper to Sdumo Mtshali, Joanne Reyneke, Linda Sebezo and many others.

“Cast… shuuu where does one even start??? I’m honoured to have played alongside you…I’m richer for having being lead by you. Thank you. Audience thank you for appreciating the work we do. I’ll see you on the next one, ” she concluded.

Dineo previously worked on The Queen where she played Kea Khozabut was sadly written off the show. The producers denied firing her despite her saying she was.

“Dineo’s contract was not terminated. She is still on payroll until the end of May. Dineo was released to go and shoot her movie. Scripts had to be rewritten to accommodate this as she was on an ‘A’ storyline. She was scheduled to return in April, but due to the lockdown, everything has changed.”

“This is a soap, it’s a telenovela. Characters come and go, that’s how soaps operate. It’s for the story and sometimes to introduce another story, but characters come and go. This isn’t something exclusive to The Queen, it happens everywhere, and it happens all the time,” Connie said at the time.

Dineo at the time replied to a follower who asked her when she would be returning. She simply said she was fired, “Ang’buyi mina ngaxoshwa (I am not coming back, I was fired). ”
