Mzansi legendary actor Israel Matseke Zulu, who’s popularly known for his villainous roles in Yizo Yizo and Gomora set the record straight after it was reported that he is struggling to land an acting gig and he’s down and out.
The former Gomora actor Israel Matseke Zulu made headlines this week after an article in Daily Sun reported that he’s down and out, looking for a job as his leg amputation earlier this year had affected his career.
Matseke-Zulu rubbished the reports in an interview with TshisaLIVE by saying the article is bogus and he’s got a lot of projects lined up.
“I’m not down and out, I’m a hustler and I’ve been hustling. What was written is not proper. It’s a wrong statement that can destroy my other associations.
“I’m not looking for a job. I know how to find work if I want to work. Gomora, they didn’t chase me, they didn’t fire me. Any time I’m comfortable, I can go there or any other place and tell them I want a job.”
The award-winning actor Israel Matseke-Zulu first made headlines in 2021 when he exited Mzansi Magic’s Gomora.
He asked the producer to write out his character Don Buthelezi due to the “growing demands of the job” and his battle with gangrene which led to his left leg being amputated.
Matseke-Zulu added in his interview that he’s a talented MC, kwaito artist, and brand ambassador, who’s now producing a film and is about to release his kwaito single on 31 October and an album later.
“After the experience of cutting my leg, obviously life won’t be the same, but I’ve never appeared in a newspaper asking for donations, I’ve never gone to a podcast asking South Africans to donate for me or whatever. I don’t want fans or people to feel pity for me. I’m a multi-talented artist, I’m a big package.”
“I’m an associate producer for a big global film … they will be shocked when they see. My music is very hot, it’s a killer album. I’ve never been so confident as I am now.”
