After enjoying a long and illustrious career in South Africa’s acting and entertainment industry, Abdul Khoza has revealed that his time in front of the big screen has come to an end; rather, he will be pursuing something more behind the scenes.
When it comes to acting abilities, only a few can compare to Abdul Khoza, as his career has been a first-hand display of his versatility and range, when it comes to the characters he portrays. His career dates back to 2011, when he emerged as the second winner of the popular acting competition show Class Act and has been on an upward trajectory since then.
Abdul bows out of his acting career with plenty to show for it, including multiple awards, such as two South African Film and Television Awards (SAFTA), for Best Supporting Actor in a Telenovela for his role as Qaphela Ngwenya on Isibaya. His role as Nqoba Zulu on The Wife not only bagged him the DSTV Mzansi Viewers Choice Award as the Favourite Actor but also earned him the nod as Best Supporting Actor at the National Film and TV Awards South Africa.
Recently, Abdul took to his Instagram to reveal that he would be closing the chapter of acting and will rather be pursuing a career behind the scenes, as reported by Sunday World.
He also used this as an opportunity to be transparent with aspiring and upcoming talents, revealing the intricacies of putting together an audition tape, and the reality that regardless of how experienced and talented one is, auditioning is still a big part of the job. He then went on to share what he regards as the last audition of his career, highlighting the bitter-sweet nature of this moment.
“THANK YOU TO EVERYONE WHO EVER SUPPORTED MY JOURNEY AS AN ACTOR, I AM HONORED TO HAVE BEEN ABLE TO SHARE MY TALENTS WITH YOU. I WOULD HAVE NEVER KNOWN MY OWN TALENT WITHOUT YOU,” the caption reads.
