The ABC Motsepe League National Playoffs kicked off earlier today with a game between KwaZulu-Natal champions Summerfield Dynamos and Mpumalanga representatives Sabie Bayern FC.

Bayern, who are led by former Orlando Pirates defender Lizo Mjempu, controlled the entire game, but Clinton Larsen’s side took the lead just before half-time, courtesy of former Kaizer Chiefs striker Lucky Nguzana.

Dynamos thought they had picked up their first three points but with 30 seconds remaining Alex Khumalo secured a point for Bayern FC. Both teams must now win their next games to book the spot into the knockout stages.

Group B kicked off with the match between MM Platinum from Gauteng and Dikwena United of Free State. Many chances were created between both sides but the lack of finishing led to the game ending up in a goalless draw.

The last game of the day was between Real Madrid, champions of Northern Cape, and well known Limpopo giants Magesi FC.

Two first-half goals for Magesi FC were the foundation for maximum points. But Madrid came out gun blazing in the second half, scoring a goal that revived the game and created a lot of chances. Right at the end, the Limpopo side put the nail in the coffin making it 3-1.
