South African Police Service (SAPS) officers have launched an urgent manhunt following a brutal attack that left four young people dead in Walmer, Gqeberha.
The victims, aged between 17 and 22, were discovered on Friday morning at a property situated in the Airport Valley informal settlement.
According to official reports, the deceased include two brothers, aged 20 and 22, who were both found with fatal gunshot wounds to the face.
Two teenage girls, aged 17 and 18, were also found at the scene; both had sustained gunshot wounds to the head. The clinical nature of the injuries has shocked the local community as investigators work to piece together the events leading up to the massacre.
At this stage, detectives admit that the motive behind the killings is entirely unclear.
While forensic teams have scoured the property for evidence, no suspects have been identified and no arrests have been made.
Authorities are appealing to members of the public who may have witnessed suspicious activity in the Airport Valley area during the early hours of Friday morning to come forward.
