In Magatle near Zebediela, the police are on the lookout for a security officer who sh0t four individuals, including his estranged wife and a one-year-old child. Both his wife and the child are in serious condition. The other victims are his wife’s cousin and sister.
The incident occurred on Saturday, August 19, 2023, around 7 pm in Makgophong Village, Limpopo.
The couple had separated, and the wife had returned home due to marital problems. The suspect contacted his wife and then went to her home.
When he arrived, he found the victims inside a family car, about to leave. He opened fire on them and then fled the scene.
Police and emergency services were called, and the victims were taken to the local hospital.
Tragically, the wife’s cousin and sister did not survive, while she and the one-year-old child are in critical condition.
The motive behind the shooting is not clear yet.
Limpopo Provincial Commissioner Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe expressed deep concern about domestic violence incidents in the province, especially during a month when women should be celebrated and protected.
She assured the public that every effort will be made to bring the responsible suspect to justice, and investigations are already underway.
