PSL clubs are increasingly looking to the successful Angolan team Petro Atlético for new talent.

The latest example is Kaizer Chiefs signing defender Inácio Miguel, making him the third player from Petro Atlético to join a PSL team during this transfer window.

Before Miguel, forward Deivi Miguel Gilberto joined Orlando Pirates in July, and midfielder Carlinhos (Carlos Sténio Fernandes) moved to Cape Town City.

All three players are part of the Angola national team. Gilberto led the attack at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, while Miguel was on the bench.

Petro Atlético is becoming a key source of players for PSL clubs, and now the focus is on how well these players will perform in the league.

Apart from these three signings, there is growing interest in Angolan players from PSL clubs.

Kaizer Chiefs sporting director Kaizer Motaung Jr praised Miguel’s experience and believes he will be a valuable addition to the team.

“We are happy to have a player of Inácio Miguel’s calibre join our team,” he said. “His experience, skill, and passion for the game match the spirit of Kaizer Chiefs, and we believe he will have a big impact on the team.”

Miguel, born in Portugal, played for Sporting Braga and had stints in Romania and Latvia.

Last season, Cape Town City signed Jo Paciência, who came from Petro Atlético’s rivals GD Interclube.
