Former president and founder of the uMkhonto weSizwe (MK) party, Jacob Zuma, will address the nation on Thursday.

Zuma has asked South Africans to tune in for his address, which is scheduled for midday on Thursday at The Capital Empire Hotel in Sandhurst, Johannesburg.

A number of media outlets are expected to carry Msholozi’s address.

A media invite from the MK party spokesperson, Nhlamulo Ndhlela, said: “The President and the Leadership of the Party will discuss broad strategic organisational issues that are crucial to the national conversation and the future direction of the Party in South Africa’s political landscape.”

This address comes as 10 former MK MPs have taken the party to the Western Cape High Court to challenge their dismissal.

They allege they were removed to make space for EFF members like Floyd Shivambu and Mzwanele Manyi, who recently joined Zuma’s party.

The MK party is expecting more members from the EFF and the ANC to join it in the coming weeks.

Zuma is also expected to tell opposition parties that the “Progressive Caucus” in Parliament, which includes the MK, the EFF, and other small black-led parties, will remain strong despite recent tensions between Shivambu and EFF leader Julius Malema.

Msholozi’s address is likely to explain Shivambu’s role in the MK party and his position in Parliament.
