The mysterious death of King Misuzulu KaZwelithini’s bodyguard, who was linked to the Toyota Fortuner fitted with emergency blue lights that killed a 26-year-old woman in Durban, has left the victim’s family with unanswered questions.

According to the police the 48-year-old sergeant was found dead at a hotel in Umhlanga after he hanged himself.

Philie KaMaNgidi Mtshali – the sister of Thini Mtshali, 26, who was killed by the King’s bodyguard vehicle on Phoenix Highway on Friday morning – said that there is something fishy about the whole affair.

“First of all this person – we haven’t seen him come out and explain how did the incident happened and why he didn’t stop at the stop street that morning. All of a sudden we are now told that he committed suicide. This is very disturbing and suspicious. We believe that there is something fishy with this case,” said KaMaNgidi-Mtshali.

The vehicle was found abandoned in sugarcane fields in Verulam, north of Durban, after the accident.

It was also then reported stolen after the hit-and-run accident that killed Mtshali.

Scrolla.Africa tried to establish the identity of the sergeant but police said it was not allowed to publish the name.

Colonel Robert Netsheunda said the Popi Act doesn’t allow them to divulge such information because it is a private matter.

King Misuzulu KaZwelithini’s spokesperson, Prince Simphiwe Zulu of KwaMinyamanzi, confirmed the accident and that it indeed involved one of King Misuzulu KaZwelithini’s security staff.
