Mamelodi Sundowns’ pre-season winless run continued following Tuesday’s 1-1 draw with Cardiff City at Sportzentrum Worgl in Austria.
After a goalless first half, Joel Colwill broke the deadlock two minutes into the second stanza before Masandawana equalised through Tashreeq Matthews with 15 minutes to go.
It was a third straight match without a win for the Brazilians who first lost 2-1 to German third tier side SV Sandhausen before losing 1-0 to Ukrainian giants Dynamo Kyiv.
Sundowns coach Manqoba Mngqithi continued trying out his players and had the likes of captain Themba Zwane, new signing Arthur Sales and defender Mothobi Mvala starting from the bench.
What could concern Mngqithi and his technical team is how his forwards have not been prolific even after Peter Shalulile started.
It is something they might want to do away with going into the new season where they will have participation at the 2025 Fifa Club World Cup as their biggest assignment.
Sundowns will now look to correct their frailties when they face Al Arabi on Friday as they want to arrest the winless mentality in their camp.
Meanwhile, Kaizer Chiefs wrapped up their tour of Turkey by drawing 0-0 with Saudi Pro League side Dibba Al-Hisn.
“With a goalless draw, Dibba Al-Hisn ends its friendly match against the African team Kaizer Chiefs with a score of 0-0 in its second friendly experience in its external camp held in Turkey,” as the Saudi club reported the result.
Amakhosi are heading back home and will face Tanzanian giants Young Africans in the Toyota Cup in Bloemfontein on Sunday.
