‘Pirates can profit from Sundowns changes’ – Roger De Sa

Former Orlando Pirates coach Roger de Sa believes the changes in Mamelodi Sundowns’ coaching staff could help the Buccaneers.

Sundowns replaced coach Rhulani Mokwena with Manqoba Mngithi, and Steve Komphela returned to his old role as senior coach.

Mokwena’s assistant, Michael Loftman, and several other staff members have left the club.

De Sa thinks these changes could be good for Pirates, who he believes have been getting closer to Sundowns.

“I believe they are getting closer than where they were,” De Sa told Scrolla.Africa.

He noticed that the second half of last season showed major progress for Pirates.

The new Sundowns coaches are expected to keep the team strong in the PSL and win the CAF Champions League.

But De Sa thinks it might be harder for Sundowns now, and Pirates only need a few new players to catch up.

“In general, they [Pirates] need better players and more competition in some positions,” De Sa added.

“They probably need goal scorers and better defence.”

The Buccaneers have finished their tour of Spain, while Sundowns are still in Austria getting ready for the new season.
