Kairo Forbes, daughter of DJ Zinhle and the late rapper Kiernan “AKA” Forbes, won the Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Award for Favourite African Kidfluencer in Santa Monica, California.

Kairo said she was grateful for the award at a watch party in Johannesburg and thanked her family and everyone who voted for her.

“I’m very happy and I appreciate your support. I hope that I inspire other kids to have dreams and that they have a family that will support their dreams,” she said, Citizen reported.

“Thank you, God, for all your blessings. This one’s for you, Daddy!”

In February 2023, AKA and his close friend, chef and entrepreneur Tebello “Tibz” Motsoane, were fatally shot outside a restaurant in Durban.

Other nominees included Nigeria’s Dream Catchers Academy and Wizkid’s son Boluwatife Balogun.

The 37th Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards, held at Pauley Pavilion, celebrated SpongeBob SquarePants’ 25th anniversary with hosts Tom Kenny (SpongeBob) and Bill Fagerbakke (Patrick Star).

The event featured graphics, augmented reality, and appearances by top celebrities, with Taylor Swift leading the nominations.

SpongeBob’s anniversary also included the show’s availability in Afrikaans and isiZulu.
