  • The Louvre Museum in Paris, home to the world-famous Mona Lisa, has been temporarily closed after an alleged robbery.
  • French Culture Minister Rachida Dati confirmed that police investigations are underway.
  • No injuries were reported, and officials have not disclosed whether any artworks were stolen.

The world’s largest art museum, the Louvre in Paris, was forced to close its doors on Sunday following an alleged robbery.

French Culture Minister Rachida Dati confirmed the incident on 19 October 2025, stating that investigations are currently underway.

Un braquage a eu lieu ce matin à l’ouverture du @MuseeLouvre. Pas de blessés à déplorer. Je suis sur place aux cotés des équipes du musée et de la police. Constatations en cours.

— Rachida Dati ن (@datirachida) October 19, 2025

Authorities have not yet revealed what, if anything, was stolen from the museum, which is home to Leonardo da Vinci’s Mona Lisa and the Venus de Milo statue.

No further details regarding the robbery have been made public.
