Biri Marung hitmaker Tebogo Mashego has stepped away from social media following a wave of public attention around his recent posts and apology video.

The musician’s family released a statement on Saturday, 18 October 2025, confirming that he will be taking a temporary break from the spotlight.

Mashego, who recently made headlines after revealing he was stranded in Nigeria, sparked widespread discussion online when he shared an emotional apology to DJ Maphorisa and DJ Karri.

His apology clip quickly went viral, prompting mixed reactions from fans and fellow artists.

In their official statement, the Mashego family expressed gratitude for the support the young artist has received, saying:

“We would like to begin by extending our heartfelt gratitude to the people of South Africa, and in particular, to Tebogo’s dedicated fans.”

They added that he will not be involved in “any performances, public appearances, or professional engagements until further notice,” emphasizing that he will also be “taking a temporary break from all social media platforms.”

The family concluded by asking the public to keep the artist in their thoughts and prayers during this time.
